My husband introduced me as his maid in front of his boss, and here’s the lesson I gave him.
After the birth of our daughter, I decided to work from home so I could fully take care of my baby. Naturally, this sometimes prevented me from always being in perfect shape. My husband, however, was used to seeing me always neat, well-dressed, and made up.
He places a lot of importance on appearances, and for him, a woman must always look impeccable, no matter the circumstances. He works in finance, and in his field, every detail matters. Because of this, he likes to be surrounded by people who meet this standard of perfection.
Whenever he invited friends or colleagues over, he would let me know in advance so I could get ready and look presentable. But one day, he came home unexpectedly with his boss. And when his boss looked surprised and asked, “Is she the maid?” without even looking at me, he replied, “Yes.”
I decided not to react immediately. On the contrary, I chose to play along and get involved in this charade. I pretended to be the “maid” and the nanny for our child.
My husband had no idea what this charade would cost him. After his boss left, I gave him a lesson he would never forget.

When his boss left, I sent him a bill for cleaning, groceries, and hosting guests, totaling $500.
He was extremely surprised.
For the following days, I remained silent.
Then, after three days, he came back with apologies, accompanied by a gift card for a spa.
I accepted his apologies, but I made it clear that his behavior had crossed a line.
He had broken the respect between us.
As for me, I’m not really sure if I’m proud of my reaction, but one thing is certain: he will never forget this.
