A woman gives birth at the prison hospital: the midwife approaches to examine her and lets out a cry of horror

😲 A woman gives birth at the prison hospital: the midwife approaches to examine her and lets out a cry of horror.

That morning, everything was strangely calm in the prison. During a routine check, one of the guards noticed that one of the pregnant inmates was feeling unwell. She called the other guards, and they transferred the prisoner to the prison hospital.

This woman had no family or close relatives, and during her time in prison, no one had visited her. She had no medical records, and it was already her ninth month of pregnancy. She felt very unwell and barely spoke.

Lying in a bare room, her gaze was lost. But in her eyes, there was neither fear nor pain, only resignation.

The midwife, an experienced and older woman, approached the inmate and spoke to her in a gentle voice: “Hello, I will stay by your side until the baby is born. May I examine you?”

The woman answered with a simple nod.

The midwife leaned in to examine her. Then, suddenly, she let out a cry of horror: “Call a priest immediately!”

She couldn’t hear the baby’s heartbeat.

In a panic, she applied more pressure, but to no avail.

With a trembling voice, she murmured: “I can’t hear the heart…”

The guards exchanged worried glances.

The contractions were becoming more intense, and every second counted.

Determined, the midwife ordered them to call a priest, invoking a final rite for the lifeless child.

But then, a faint noise, almost imperceptible, broke the silence.

The baby’s heart was beating, weak but detectable.

“It’s alive!” the midwife cried.

After long hours of suffering, a cry shattered the atmosphere.

The baby, fragile but alive, let out its first cry.

The medical team rushed to administer oxygen to the baby.

Exhausted, but relieved, the midwife whispered, “Thank you, Lord…”

Finally, for the first time, the inmate lifted her eyes and smiled.
