But he approached her, defiant, and in a provocative gesture, reached out his hand toward her, trying to destabilize her.

The murmurs grew louder, and phones were raised, recording the moment. Emily locked eyes with him unwaveringly. “Take your hand off,” she said softly, but in a way that left no room for doubt.

“You should learn to respect others, and especially understand that authority isn’t earned through humiliation,” she added, without raising her voice.
Then, she turned on her heels and walked away. The boys, still in shock, didn’t move. Emily resumed the lesson as if nothing had happened, but deep down, she knew that something had changed that day. They would never challenge her the same way again.
