The diver named Mark went first, lighting the way with a powerful flashlight. Behind him, three colleagues followed, checking their equipment and recording rare species of fish on their tablets. They hoped to find new traces of marine predator migration, which made this dive especially important.
Mark carefully scanned the darkness: shimmering schools of fish passed by, jellyfish that looked like transparent spheres, and small sharks keeping their distance. Everything was calm until suddenly a shadow flashed behind him. Clear, powerful, far too large.
He froze. A cold chill ran down his spine, even though the water was already icy.
