My dog woke me up at six in the morning, and what I saw next terrified me.
That morning, I will never forget what I saw. It was six o’clock, the time I usually woke up, but this time, it wasn’t like any other. I was deep asleep, in my bed.
The night before, I had returned very late from a party, around three in the morning, and I was counting on a few extra hours of sleep. But in the morning, my dog started barking loudly and insistently, as if he had something urgent to tell me.
It wasn’t like him to wake me up so early. Normally, he only wakes me up for his walk.
“Let me sleep a little,” I murmured to him, hoping he’d understand. But he didn’t stop. Instead, he put his paw on my chest and began gently shaking me, staring straight into my eyes.
It was strange, this insistence. A dog as smart as him never behaved this way, and I couldn’t understand what was bothering him so much.
I looked at him, a bit annoyed. “What now?” I murmured, closing my eyes again, hoping to fall back asleep. But he still wouldn’t move, he jumped onto the bed and barked right next to my ear.
I finally opened my eyes, and at that moment, I realized something was wrong. When I finally understood the reason for his behavior, I was terrified.

A strange, burning smell filled the air, jolting me awake.
At first, it was indefinable, but it quickly became clear: the smell of something burning, getting stronger and stronger.
My heart pounding, I rushed out of bed, running barefoot down the hallway.

From the living room, flames were roaring, devouring everything in their path.
